Instant Website Using Drupal

A few years ago, having a website was a luxury. A professional website maker will charge you hundreds of thousands of dollars to get your website up and running. Also another monthly charge for the webmaster to manage your own website. Today websites are just a few clicks away. Anyone with little knowledge of computers and the Internet can make them. And all I am a webmaster. :) All thanks to Content Management System or CMS.

For anyone new to the world of CMS, it allows you to make websites in just a few clicks. There are many CMS out there, paid or free, but there are only few who are at the top. There are three free world giants CMS, WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. those three have their own advantages and disadvantages.

WordPress is the simplest of them, only slightly more difficult than updating your Facebook profile, my mother and my child of 6 years to use them with ease. Download from wordpress.org. Good tutorial on installing and customizing are all over the net. You could probably get through it without reading any though, since it's so simple.Thousands of models rather than steals the hearts of all. However push on blogging. An attempt to get WordPress into something else is it takes time and you will hit the wall soon enough.

Joomla is somewhat in between. Needs some learning curves, but it's not rocket science.Download from joomla.org.junior and high Schooler could be able to cope with Joomla with the help of some tutorial. The templates are fully customizable with modules make it less blog and more professional looking. Is quite flexible, but I hit the wall here and there.

Joomla and WordPress is my best friends in building all these years cobwebs. I can answer almost all my client request based on those two. Tried others like osCommerce and even Drupal, but back to those two immediately.

However, lately I've heard rumors about Drupal how great it is. A quick googling told me this:

1. Many Community sites, magazine, Government and big companies are now using Drupal.Barracking Obama, Michael Jackson, NASA, MIT and Harvard to name a few.

2. it is competing against Joomla to be the best free CMS around. (Sorry, but WordPress is still the best blogging engine) Drupal WINS in architecture and flexibility but falls under Templates, and ease of use.

Dated today, is the latest version of Joomla 1.5 and Drupal is 6.12. Most likely both of them will try to improve what's missing their engine on next version. But many said that home of Drupal is much easier to implement, because it already win in its Foundation, architecture.

Most people on the network agree that Drupal is difficult. That it is intended only for Web developers, which is actually a content management Platform, and so on.But I found a guy who said that it is not absolutely true.A friend has a Web site project. a month not Joomla configuration gets her everywhere. So that the boy gave her a hand and tried Drupal, an approach. The issue was resolved in 3 hours, without any kind of encoding.

Of course, that guy can do it because he was already using Drupal since version 4.03.But if Drupal that is powerful and on the next version will be better, I definitely!

The experiment Started, download it from drupal.org and install it based on notes supplied package Setup.Installing Drupal do not differ much from WordPress or joomla.Just a few clicks and you're good to go. but the configuration and customization of Drupal is another story.

With WordPress and Joomla, googling for tutorials is more than enough of is all there! I tried the same method for Drupal and ends up with headaches. official website, forums, communities of Drupal, tutorials I have no good.

Lately I have this book in my hand. An O'Reilly book titled "using Drupal." I just read the table of contents and skimmed over the book, but I already feel about what exactly is Drupal. I focused on term of Drupal, some that I have more confused as blocks, nodes and taxonomy and begun to understand what they are and how they work. you can buy the book at Amazon for $ 38.38. But a friend told me that you can get for free here the book [http://amazingfreebies.co.cc].

Looking forward to my next articles once I finished the book and successfully created a great site using Drupal!
